Panel discussion: Extract the value of social media into Big Data then BI Analytics and Social CRM
In the past year, Big Data has emerged as one of the most closely watched trends in IT. The explosion of data over the past decade, including more machine-generated data and social data, is forcing companies to face new challenges in terms of acquiring, organizing and analyzing these new data sources to make better business decisions.
Big data is more than just about managing petabytes of data. It is also about managing large numbers of complex unstructured data streams (such as web logs, stock ticks, machine generated logs, social media streams and trade messages) which contain valuable data points. Many companies are seeing a tremendous opportunity to leverage more types of data to deliver better business insights. While data analytics was once considered a competitive advantage, it’s increasingly being seen as a necessity for enterprises–to the point that those that aren’t employing some kind of advanced analytics are seen to be at a competitive disadvantage.
